A confluence between the most important research activities developed by the National University of Engineering with the National Science and Technology Plan 2012-2016, suggests a definition of the following priority lines of research:
MATERIAL SCIENCE
Research in basic and social sciences is promoted with emphasis on the so-called “hard sciences” (physics, chemistry and mathematics), economics and architecture given its importance in the development of new knowledge and support.
SCIENCES OF THE EARTH AND THE ENVIRONMENT
Research in Seismic Engineering, Geotechnics, Structures and Disaster Mitigation is promoted; Surface Hydraulics, Hydrology, Underground Hydraulics, among others; and, environmental control and sustainable development.
ENERGY
Energy research is promoted with emphasis on R & D & I and transfer of renewable energy; activities in the oil and gas industry, as well as the training of human resources with related specialties in hydrocarbons.
